Audio Conference |
· Traditional lecture format held through a toll free number. · Students need to have access to a telephone with mute/speaker button and fax machine. The audio conference telephone number is provided in book package or by calling the KuC Distance Ed. · Provides communication between the instructor and students. · Students are given an official UA ID and e-mail upon registration and should use this for all course correspondence. · To find your e-mail go to https://ssl.uaf.edu:1917/email_lookup.html, use your UA ID number to access your new e-mail address and set up a password. If you prefer to use your personal mail go to UAF Webmail at: http://webmail.uaf.edu/ and forward your university account. · Students need to have their own computer or access to a local lab. Students in Bethel can request a KuC Network User ID at the time of registration by filling out a form. |

Blackboard |
· Internet based Class Management System (CMS) that provides students with easy access to their syllabi, materials, discussion groups and other on-line services. · Classes using blackboard require periodic internet use. Some audio-conference courses require blackboard use during the audio session. Activate your UAF blackboard account at: http://classes.uaf.edu by using your university e-mail account. |

Elluminate Live (E-Live) |
· Interactive real-time course software that allows for sharing of two way audio, pictures, computer applications, and graphics. · E-Live Emergency back up – audio conference numbers. · E-Live courses are best suited to students with basic computer skills. Students need administrative access to a computer & must download software prior to the first class. The Instructor will provide log in instructions in the course materials or through access to the CMS-class management site (see Blackboard). Stable and reliable connections to the internet, computer with soundcard, headset with microphone are required. Microphones can be requested/purchased through the KuC bookstore. |

Video Conference |
· Special video equipment that allows the live transfer of face to face picture, sound and media for a live meeting-like atmosphere. · Video Conference is not available in all locations. Students need to refer to the requirements listed in the course schedule and contact their local site or KuC Distance Ed office for more information. |

Independent Study |
· Semester based and year-long correspondence courses delivered both through the internet and postal mail. These courses are best for motivated or independent individuals that enjoy reading and studying on their own. |
|
Special Cohorts |
· Distance delivered courses that include face to face sessions in a village or on-campus with the remaining sessions delivered via one or more of the above distance methods. |
